The Website Designers Association's terms of reference are to:
- Have a recognisable prestigious quality design mark for designers and their clients alike
- An advertising platform for online web developers and designers
- A discussion forum for web developers
- advance the agenda for innovative web design, development and maintenance
- evaluate progress in this regard
- assist in devising suitable mechanisms and advising members on their implementation
- and contribute to the formation of an international consensus in these regards.
Membership includes both individual freelance designers, state and non-governmental representatives, organisations and companies and reflects the distinct input from all stakeholders into all aspects of professional design : innovative and inclusive. The advisory panel is drawn from an international list of experts, comprising individuals and organisations.
Membership of the association is not tied to any one particular locale. International input is necessary as the web has no national boundary.
